Curtis spent ten years working for Mercedes-Benz International before realizing God was calling him into camp ministry. He was saved at five years old and later baptized as a teenager at New Union Missionary Baptist Church in Red Bay, Alabama. Curtis and his wife served for ten years at Journey Baptist Church in Calera, Alabama, where they were involved in youth ministry, Sunday school, worship, and just about anywhere God opened a door. They are now members of Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Pensacola, Florida, which serves as Bro. Curtis’s sending church. The camp is owned and operated by the West Florida Association of Churches of the American Baptist Association (ABA).
